Transport systems often operate continuously, depend on specialised protocols and must preserve safe fallback behaviour while interacting with many operators, contractors and external data sources. The attack surface may include remote support, software updates, removable media, third-party libraries, public input or misused operator credentials. The security design therefore needs containment as well as prevention.
How the capsule model could help
The proposed deployment pattern is to isolate receiver processing, correction generation, key use and broadcast services with attestation and controlled calibration data. NØNOS would use signed operational software and compartmentalised protocol handlers as the trust foundation, then apply attested operator sessions and least-privilege device access around higher-risk functions. Logs or proofs could record which approved capsule performed a privileged action without retaining unnecessary user data.
Deployment requirements
NØNOS would need to sit beside, or be engineered into, existing certified systems without weakening deterministic behaviour, fail-safe modes, independent protection or operator procedures.
Current public-beta limitations, hardware support and application availability must be assessed before any pilot. Neither this use case nor an industry source establishes NONOS certification or a current customer deployment.
